End Cottage lies in the heart
of the South Hams between Totnes and Dartmouth. Facing south on the
outskirts of the village it is last in a terrace of 3 overlooking
farmland and the ruined entrance of the Abbey.
Set back from the road it has a large front garden, terraced and planted,
with plenty of room for parking. To the back of the cottage the ground
rises, this area is kept as meadow. In the summer it is full of butterflies,
we often see slow worms under rocks and in the early evening a little
owl normally visits.
From the cottage there are many circular walks along green lanes and
footpaths. A short distance away is Bow Creek, a wooded tributary
of the river Dart. Dittisham which is famous for its plums and crabbing
and the recently acquired National Trust property Greenaway is 2 miles
from Cornworthy. There is a Sailing school here if you want to sail
or have lessons. Blackpool Sands, a lovely beach with many awards
is about 25 minutes drive. The Dartmouth Golf and Country club is
close by, guests are entitled to a 25% discount on membership.
Cornworthy is a quiet village with no passing traffic. It has a village
shop that opens on Saturdays and an award winning pub "The Hunters
Lodge" which specializes in food made from fresh local produce. |
